Ghana Visa Free Countries 2018 – List Of Countries You Can Travel To With A Ghanaian Passport Visa Free

Ghana has one of the most revered African passports. According to Henley & Partners Visa Restrictions Index, Ghanaian passport takes the 73rd position among the world’s best passports. Recently, Ghanaian citizens have been empowered to fly on a visa-free basis to many countries. Statistics obtained in 2016 showed that Ghanaian nationals were granted entry to about 64 countries on electronic visa access, visa on arrival and visa-free basis. In view of Ghana’s membership in ECOWAS (Economic Community of West African States), Ghanaian nationals who do not have visas are allowed entry into any West African country usually for a period of three months. Briefly speaking, citizens have visa-free access to many countries and based on our findings, this article comprises some of the countries Ghanaians can enter on a visa-free basis.

1. Bangladesh

Bangladesh grants entry to Ghanaian citizens without a visa but valid passports must be provided. Entering Bangladesh on a visa-free basis are allowed to stay up to 3 months (90 days). For visitors not to be denied entry, they’re expected to have provided themselves with financial means sufficient for their periods of stay. Moreover, they’re expected to provide their return or onward tickets.

2. Barbados

On our list of Ghana Visa Free Countries, we have Barbados, they grant a visa-free basis to stay in the country for 180 days but must be able to provide passports with the minimum validity of 6 months. To avoid being denied entry into Barbados, you must provide evidence (such as tickets) showing that their country of residence –or native country –is their final destination.

3. Belize

Ghanaian citizens are allowed to enter Belize on a visa-free basis but they must be able to provide their valid passports. Before being granted entry, Ghanaian citizens who have visited African countries including Sierra Leone, DR Congo, Liberia, Guinea, and Nigeria will undergo medical check-ups. And if there is need to further examine such passengers, they may be quarantined. Moreover, each visitor must have the minimum of $50 daily and must hold the needed ticket and document for his subsequent destination. Likewise, visitors on visa-free basis are allowed to extend their periods of stay in Belize.

4. Benin

Ghanaian citizens entering the Benin Republic on a visa-free basis are required to provide their passports. In this regard, Ghanaian citizens are allowed to stay for the maximum period of 3 months (90 days). Notably, it isn’t necessary that they enter with valid passports. But for the Ghanaian citizens entering with expired passports, they must ensure that 5 years has not elapsed from the expiry of such passports. In a nutshell, expired passports are accepted only if their expiry has not exceeded five years.

5. Burkina Faso

Ghanaians are allowed to enter Burkina Faso on a visa-free basis but they must be able to provide passports valid enough to cover their desired periods of stay. As part of their stay in Burkina Faso, they’re expected to hold the documents and tickets required for their subsequent destinations.

6. Cape Verde

Ghanaian citizens who have no visas are granted entry into Cape Verde but they must be able to provide passports valid enough to cover their maximum periods of stay -180 days or 6 months. Also, Cape Verde grants entry to visitors who’re entering the country as foreign mission personnel. But in this case, such visitors must provide their ID cards as obtained from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

7. Cote d’Ivoire

Ghanaian nationals can enter Cote d’Ivoire on a visa-free basis but they must be able to provide valid passports. To avoid being denied entry, each visitor’s passport, as well as other entry documents, must prove valid for at least 6 months after the desired period of stay. It should also be noted that Cote d’Ivoire doesn’t grant entry to Ghanaian citizens who do not have machine-readable passports. On entering the country, each visitor must show evidence of hotel accommodation and is expected to hold the documents needed for his subsequent destination.

8. Dominica

Ghanaian citizens entering Dominica on a visa-free basis are allowed to stay for the maximum of 180 days or 6 months. But in order to be allowed entry, their passports must be valid at the point of arrival. And to avoid being denied entry, visitors must be able to provide their return or onward tickets. However, the only persons exempted from this are faculty staff as well as students of RUSM (Ross University School of Medicine). But again, they must be able to provide their work permits and their student visas. In addition to having the financial means that will sustain him over his intended period of stay, each visitor is expected to hold the documents needed for his subsequent destination.

9. Ecuador

Ghanaian citizens who do not have visas are allowed entry into Ecuador but their periods of stay must not exceed 3 months. Meanwhile, they’re allowed to extend their periods of stay beyond the required 90 days/3 months. And to avoid being denied entry, a visitor’s passport must cover the minimum validity of 6 months. In addition, visitors are expected to hold their return or onward tickets.

10. Fiji

Visitors usually have the maximum stay of 120 days (4 months) but if they wish to extend their stays beyond this limit, they will be provided with visitor permits on entry into the country. To avoid cases of entry denial, visitors must provide their onward/return tickets, evidence of verified accommodation, documents needed for subsequent destinations and evidence of financial means sufficient for their intended periods of stay.

11. The Gambia

Ghanaian nationals who do not have visas can stay in The Gambia for the maximum of 3 months (90 days). However, they must provide their passports with the minimum validity of 6 months. To avoid cases of entry denial, visitors are advised to show their return/onward tickets as well as evidence of financial means sufficient for their intended periods of stay.

12. Grenada

Nationals of Ghana (and other West African countries) who do not have visas can stay in Grenada but are not allowed to stay beyond 90 days (3 months). Also, they must present their valid passports before they can be granted entry. At the point of entry into the country, visitors must provide their flight documents as well as onward/return tickets.

13. Guinea

Ghanaians can enter Guinea without presenting any visas but at the point of arrival, they must present their valid travel documents including passports. Although visas are not necessary, visitors could be barred from entering if they fail to present their onward or return tickets.

14. Guinea Bissau

Meanwhile, the maximum stay is 90 days/3 months but visitors are granted the permission to extend their periods of stay. To avoid being barred from entry, visitors are advised to hold their travel documents including valid passports.

Ghanaians entering Haiti on a visa-free basis can stay up to 90 days/ 3 months but they must provide their normal valid passports. On entering the country, visitors must present their onward/return tickets and the details of where they wish to reside in Haiti.

16. Indonesia

Ghanaian citizens entering Indonesia on a visa-free basis must be able to present their passports covering the minimum validity of 6 months. Except for those entering the country for the purpose of journalism visits, Ghanaian citizens must be able to show evidence of sufficient financial means including their return/onward tickets. Importantly, visitors must not stay longer than the maximum acceptable number of days. Meanwhile, Indonesia reserves the right to fine any visitor who fails to comply with this. Based on the kinds of visas provided, visitors may be allowed to extend their periods of stay. Also noteworthy is that a visitor’s period of stay starts from the first day he lands in Indonesia.

17. Jamaica

Jamaica is also on our list of Ghana Visa Free Countries 2018. Nationals without their visas but they must present their passports covering the minimum validity of 6 months. Other entry requirements for visitors are return/onward tickets, documents needed for subsequent destinations and evidence of sufficient financial means.

18. Kenya

Ghanaian nationals entering Kenya on a visa-free basis can stay for the maximum of 3 months/90 days but they must provide valid passports for at least 6 months. Other entry requirements visitors must provide are documents and tickets needed for subsequent destinations and financial means sufficient to sustain them over their periods of stay. In this case, a visitor should have the minimum of $500 as financial means.

19. Liberia

Ghanaian nationals do not need any visas before they can be granted entry into Liberia but to avoid entry denial, they are expected to present their passports as well as other accepted travel documents.

20. Mali

To gain entry into Mali, Ghanaian nationals do not need to present any visas but they’re required to present passports as well as other accepted or needed travel documents. Entry is always free for Ghanaians but in the case of an under-aged Ghanaian (precisely one below the age of 18), there must be a legal guardian to back his/her entry. But if he/she is not accompanied by the guardian/parent, he/she must present evidence of permission issued by the guardian/parent.

21. Mauritius

Ghanaian nationals entering Mauritius on a visa-free basis can stay for the maximum of 3 months/90 days and must back their entry with valid passports covering the minimum of 3 months/90 days. Meanwhile, tourists have longer stay periods with the maximum of 6 months/180 days within a single year. For those entering the country for business purposes, the maximum stay period is 4 months/120 days within a single year. On each visit to the country, such visitors (entering the country for business purposes) are not allowed to stay more than 3 months/90 days. To avoid being denied entry, visitors must provide necessary requirements including evidence of hotel accommodation, evidence of financial means (at least $100 per day) sufficient for their intended stay periods and tickets showing that their country of residence/origin is their final destination.

On the other hand, Mauritius grants entry to Ghanaian citizens who do not have visas but are planning to stay for the maximum of 1 month/30 days. Also in this case, such visitors must back their entry with valid passports covering the minimum of 4 months/120 days.  For this mode of entry, visitors are expected to hold vital requirements including their onward/return tickets and evidence of financial means sufficient for their intended periods of stay.

22. Niger

Niger is one of the West African countries Ghanaians can enter without presenting any visas. But to avoid entry denial, visitors must provide valid passports and other required/accepted travel documents at the point of arrival.

23. Nigeria

Ghanaian citizens are allowed to enter Nigeria without presenting their visas but at the point of arrival, they must be able to provide valid passports as well as other accepted documents. To avoid being denied entry, visitors are advised to present their return/onward tickets.

24. The Philippines

Nationals of Ghana are free to enter the Philippines on a visa-free basis but their stay periods shouldn’t exceed 1 month/30 days and to avoid entry denial, they must present passports covering the minimum validity of 6 months. Importantly, visitors can visit any nearby immigration office in the Philippines in order to request for the extension of stay periods.

25. Saint Kitts and Nevis

This country allows Ghanaian citizens who do not have visas to stay in the country but their maximum stay periods must not exceed 90 days/3 months. On entry, visitors must present their passports with validity covering at least 180 days/6 months from the day of arrival. If there is need to extend their stay periods, visitors are required to visit the country’s Ministry of Finance. Also, each visitor is advised to hold important requirements including the documents needed for his subsequent destination and evidence of financial means sufficient for his period of stay.

26. Senegal

Senegal is one of the West African countries Ghanaians can enter without providing any visas. Basically, 90 days/3 months is the maximum stay period, interested Ghanaian citizens can request for stay extension. To prevent being denied entry, visitors are required to present accepted documents as well as valid passports. Notably, the passports must cover at least 90-day/3-month validity from the day of arrival.
