Although Phyno wished to be a pilot when he was in secondary school, he found himself going into music when the time came for him to follow a career path. He attended a tertiary institution in Enugu where he studied Public Administration, while Phyno was in Institute of Management and Technology, Enugu State he decided to go into music professionally and carried out his decision during his second year.
His Nickname Phyno was given to him by one of his high school friends then, it was a short form of phenomenal and the name stuck to him.
